Norway's Got Indies Too!2.Sept 2010
The trip to Trondheim was a success, and my team got the chance to be social with the rest of the community of Indie Game Developers that my country has to offer. There are some good titles being produced in Norway, and here's some links to their websites:
+ Garbalicious by Team Flop
+ Break A Leg(A playable Demo is available) by Derail Games
+ Evil Jr. by Illuminatics Gameware
+ Apocalypse by Wailing Ninja Studios
+ Zanshin by Ascension

There we're more Indies at the convention, and I'll link to more of them as I find them.

Also, This week, Dungeon Chaos had it's 2-Year Anniversary. For the occasion, I've started doing a small piece of art, which I'll be posting here next week, in the Art-section.

Trip to Trondheim26.Aug 2010
Me and my sidekick artist, Simon Andersen are taking a promotional trip this weekend to a school in the Norwegian city of Trondheim- where we'll have Owlboy available to play for those who participate,

In other news, Scott Pilgrim VS. The World recently got released on Xbox 360 Arcade, which is a game that combines superb pixel graphics by one of my idols, Paul Robertson, with the gameplay from River City Ransom, one of my favorite games ever. The Food system in Dungeon Chaos was heavily inspired by this game.

I've shared a screenshot of how the new Shop system might work in the new Dungeon Chaos update.

I've long desired to create a game like this, and after finishing it, I might go ahead and create my own take on the genre.

Summer Over, Facebook Page added5.Aug 2010
Join on Facebook Finally, Summer is over, and workdays is upon us! This is good news for people who are workaholics, people like me! I've added a Facebook page for fans to more easily get the newest updates on their favorite online community, and I'm going to post lesser important stuff there, that I normally wouldn't post on this website.

Join the facebook page by clicking the image, or follow this link: Roflgames on Facebook

Owlboy, and our other secret projects are well underway, and we're hoping to release it upon you by the end of this year!
Owlboy In Sweden at The Nordic Games Conference5.May 2010
The team went to Sweden in Malmø, to not only show off Owlboy, but to meet the rest of the small crew of Indies stationed in Nordic lands. We had the pleasure of meeting alot of indies, including:
- Petri, creator of Crayon Physics, and Kloonigames.com
- Nicklas Nygren, creator of Saira & Knytt Stories
- Mikkel Fredborg & Lasse Cleveland, creators of Youropa
- Joel, one of the creators of Bob Came In Pieces

Indie titles that we're present included Saira, Max and the Magic Marker, Tuning, Youropa, Bob Came in Pieces, and the sweet cherry on top: Owlboy

We got to talk alot of business, pleasure, and games, and were surprised by how many good ideas there were present at the NGC. We also learned about the Swedish School System, and it's free game-design schools, which made me tear my hair out, after having to pay through my nose for a proper education in Norway. If you're looking for an education within games, look no further, move to Sweden!

We also got another interview done, by the Danish version of Eurogamer, which you can read right here.

We're working on Owlboy as always, and now that our little promo-period is over, we can get some real hard work done. Check back soon for more,

Owlboy Interview on GameReactor18.April 2010
GameReactor, a fantastic games magazine, which I'm a huge fan of, has given us the tremendeous honour to star in one of their interviews from GDC at their website. In this interview about Owlboy, Simon and me talk about the game, explaining what we're trying to create, and how far we're into the development.

Warning: May contain horribly bad accents and nervous face twitchings,

Vinter In Hollywood13.April 2010
Vinter In Hollywood, the incredible musical talent you've come to know from my games, is currently working hard on his freshest album, which is currently half-way complete. Visit his fan-club and take a whiff at his music. Personally, I can't wait to dig some inspiration out of his songs. I've also added a game-page for the promotional game we've got planned.

Owlboy Interview with Pixelsocks10.April 2010
Another great interview from GDC with Pixelsocks.com, has been added to our list of interviews. You can read it here, it explains many things about what inspiered Simon to start creating Owlboy, and what we want the game to be like when it is finished.

Birthday in the Dpad Crew31.March 2010
So, yeah, I've had my birthday, had a small cake and casual glass of wine, gone, past, and this huge horse had to come along and ruin all the subtlety! My man, Simon, ruined my stealthy birthday mood by intoducing me to his 'Party Horse'. Not a pretty picture to have when you're trying to sleep at night, I can tell you! Turns out, my birthday is gonna be a party after all...

Owlboy in the media19.March 2010
Owlboy got ALOT of attention at this year's GDC, from both innocent bystanders and hardcore fans, and not least, the media. We've been filmed by German television, and also on a Nordic site called Gamereactor. Here is an interview with Simon and yours truly, from the Norwegian gaming site, Gamer.no. Sadly it is only Norwegian.

Jo & Simon: "Owlboy will reach great heights. We promise, *smug-smirk*"
GDC wrapped!17.March 2010
My trip with Dpad Studio to San Francisco has ended, and I've got literally TONS of great and happy news to spread! We've been featured in several interviews, on both websites and TV, and I'll share with you all the links, when these become available. I'll need to do some changes to the website in order to keep track of all the new stuff, so keep tuned to get more info on Owlboy, Dpad and our progress as a small indie team. Updates tomorrow!

Also, check out Simon's Blog for great photographs of San Francisco!

Interview on Kotaku.com regarding Owlboy18.Feb 2010
Today, Kotaku.com published an interview featuring myself, the artist(Simon) and the engine programmer(Blake). The interview surrounds Owlboy and it's origin. I'll soon have a Owlboy gamepage up in the games section, so you can follow the latest updates on it's development. In three weeks time, we'll hopefully have Owlboy clean and ready for playing at GDC San Francisco.

Polishing Owlboy for GDC6.Feb 2010
Otus These days we are working on polishing Owlboy as much as we can for the GDC Conference in San Francisco. Our goal is to have something really spectacular to show when we hit the floor of GDC. We're also concentrating on the small details, and we're working on giving the already existing material more detail. I'll announce what to expect from the Owlboy Demo when the time comes to unravel some details.

GameMaker 8 Release29.Des 2009
GameMaker 8 has been released over at Yoyogames.com! This version of GameMaker allows for use of alpha channels, and will enable the use of graphics, the likes of which can be found in proffessional titles like Castle Crashers and Muramasa: The Demon Blade, if one is very talented.

I'm looking foreward to working with it, and I'll announce any future project I might release using GM8. Happy holidays!

Zero Punctuation16.Des 2009
Zero Punctuation is an hilarious video game review series starring Ben "Yahtzee" Croshaw, who's the quickest mouth of the critic bunch, and also known as a 'charismatic stallion'. His series started with a review of Fable, and his career as a videogame critic boomed from there on. He usually reviews recently released games, rather than nostalgic ones.

He's also got his own website, FullyRamblomatic.com where he submits his games, novels and comics. He's a very produtive person, and his writing and comics are equally as funny as his reviews.

In the newest episode, Yahtzee reviews Demon's Souls, new game for the PS3. Check it out.

Nostalgia Critic11.Des 2009
The Nostalgia Critic is an equally harsh critic as The Angry Video Game Nerd, only, his criticism is directed at bad nostalgic movies. He submits a new review every week, on his website, ThatGuyWithTheGlasses.com, and is known for his extreme outbursts while doing his reviews. His real name is Doug Walker, and is an expert entertainer and critic. He currently has a Christmas special going on, and has reviewed Jack Frost, and He Man Christmas Special.

My favorite episodes are Top 11 Saddest Moments and Live at the Harry Potter 7 Book Launch.

The Angry Video Game Nerd and The Nostalgia Critic have an ongoing feud, which originated when The Nostalgia Critic posted a video, proclaiming he's the better talent of the two. It all ends in a large scale battle, involving a number of well-known internet personas, and The Angry Video Games Nerd's Super Mecha Death Christ.
You can follow the fued here.

The Angry Video Game Nerd10.Des 2009
The Angry Video Game Nerd has been great source of criticism, inspiration and comedy for most gamers, and people usually watch him for a laugh, while I take notes during his ramblings about his games. He's a harsh mouthed, short tempered nostalgic videogame critic, who goes to great length playing awful videogames so we don't have to. His true identity is James Rolfe, an extremely intelligent young man, who is dedicating his life to the art of film making. He is busy running his own website, at Cinemassacre.com. Open up your Rolling Rocks and enjoy his nostalgic shows.

This is his newest entry of nostalgic gold: Little Red Hood.

GameMaker Logo Update9.Des 2009
The riots over at Yoyogames are calming down, as the staff of GameMaker has changed the logo based on the feedback of the YoYogames community.

I'm getting ready for a new position in game's programming, and I've agreed to help with the continued development of Owlboy, which for a while, has been lacking a programmer. I've been in contact with the designer, who is currently very busy himself, and I'm going to help out during it's development as much as I can. This is one of the bigger projects I've taken part of, an I hope I get my programming fingers all over it very soon. -Rofl

BEAVER SQUAD released and New GameMaker Logo30.Nov 2009
The competition is now over, and sadly I did not win this time around, but I got alot of good response on the game, and have decided to put the game up on Yoyogames.com. I've added an online highscore table to keep the game competative and addicting, and I hope you will like it. Good Luck beating my good friend Seb's Highscore, of over 1 Million Points! Maybe I'll arrange a highscore competition in the future, with nice prizes.
Here is the link to the game: Beaver Squad - Nature Force

In other news:
the new Logo representing GameMaker has been decided, and a riot is brewing over at Yoyogames over this, as the Logo is completely new and does not represent GameMaker the way we developers are used to. Follow the fued here: YoyogamesBlog. I'm not a huge fan of the new logo myself, all developers using GameMaker are awaiting while the final decisions over at YoYoGames are being made.
Now, back to work.

NEW GAME: BEAVER SQUAD - NATURE FORCE14.Nov 2009
The past week I've been working on a title for a one week competition, known as the warmup for the Game Awards of Norway. The game becomes playable when the voting starts, this Monday, 16. of November. I've added a game page for the title, here: "Beaver Squad - Nature Force".
PIRATE BOAT VOYAGE - new game 29.October 2009
We all know it's the age of Pirates, and I've always wanted to make a game with pirates(who doesn't?).

I've released a video trailer of my newest project, PIRATE BOAT VOYAGE, which is still early in the making. I'll release more info on it when available, and maybe a demo in the near future. Keep playi'n!

RSS FEED ADDED TO THE SITE 24.September 2009
I've added an RSS-feed so it will be easier to keep updated on my games. An RRS-feed helps you keeping updated on this site, without actually visiting it, and is very useful if you want to keep updated on both my projects or releases.
Add the Feed by clicking this link, or clicking the Rss Feed-button on the top-left of the webpage

Other news: I'm adding a development section later this week to this site, where you can read on different projects that I haven't finished yet. Right now I'm working on a game with the project-title "Pirate Boat Voyage", and will be updating some information on it.

I'm also, as always, working on updating Dungeon Chaos.

Stay tuned, or add the RSS - Rofl
SUMMER IS OVER 26.August 2009
The summer is hereby over, and I've started working on a group-project known as X-Defence. This is a game remeniscent of the classical Tower-Defence games(Tower Defence based on Warcraft). I'm working as a concept artist and the game is still in a very early fase of it's development. I've posted a concept drawing for the game over at the Art-Section

Dungeon Chaos is now featured on the front-page of Yoyogames.com, in the Adventure Games section. Dungeon Chaos will be recieveing an update in only a matter of days, so keep tuned either here or on Yoyogames.com

DUNGEON CHAOS UPDATE 15.August 2009
Dungeon Chaos has recieved it's update. It's been in the works this entire summer, and has resulted in some improvements of the game.

Dungeon Chaos has now been played over 4450 times over at Yoyogames, and I feel the game is on the right track. I won't rest ,however , until I'm content with the game, which I'm not. I'm always checking my e-mail for suggestions for improvement to this game, and will, in the near future add a comment page to the games I post on this site. More on this later.

Now, go play Dungeon Chaos

DUNGEON CHAOS 23.July 2009
Dungeon Chaos, has had over 4000 plays over at Yoyogames, and I'm celebrating by giving it some more work. I've decided to make a section on top of this page to show which game I'm currently working on, and which date I've set myself as deadline. Remember, deadlines are bound to be crossed when working towards perfection!

PROJECT STATUS 15.July 2009
Many of my smaller projects are getting attention from me this summer time, and some of them will get posted on this website when they are done or play-able. I've submitted a little intro, to a concept of a game suggested by "game-maket-researcher" Simon Cottee. Take a look at it over at the "Games-Section". Sadly no gameplay...yet.

This website is dedicated to bring my games, art and ideas onto the web. I'll be happy to share any of my creations that actually makes sense to publicate. I've got many projects going on, and will, during the startup, try to keep them at bay on my harddrive, and focus on improving this website
